Three bodies were found in the debris of a furniture store in Hyderabad that caught fire. The charred remains of the individuals were discovered in the basement of the four-story building. The fire broke out on Saturday, and the rescue team located the bodies on Sunday.
Rescue workers are still searching for four other individuals who are believed to be trapped in the fire. The operation to find them has been ongoing since Saturday afternoon. The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency, along with the police and firefighting personnel, are actively involved in the rescue efforts.
The fire, which started around 1 p.m., occurred near Nampally Railway Station in the city center. Despite the firefighters managing to control the blaze after nearly eight hours, thick smoke has been a challenge in the rescue mission. Locals first noticed the fire and smoke coming from the warehouse in the basement and alerted the fire department.
Seven people, including two children, were feared to be trapped in the fire. Among them were Mohammed Imtiyaz, Syed Habeeb, Yadaiah, and his two children, Akhil and Praneet. Another trapped individual was identified as Beban Bee. The rescue workers are facing difficulties in clearing the debris due to unsafe conditions inside the building.
The fire has caused significant damage to the building, which had a ground floor and four additional floors with two cellars. The first cellar was densely packed with furniture material. Concerns regarding the structural integrity of the building post-fire have led to an inspection by a team of engineering experts from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. Authorities will decide on the building’s fate based on the team’s assessment.
