Three security personnel lost their lives, and 29 others were injured in a coordinated attack by militants on a security forces’ convoy in Balochistan, Pakistan. The incident occurred in Mastung district while the convoy was en route from Quetta to Kalat district via the N-25 highway. The attackers, armed with heavy weapons, targeted the convoy at multiple locations, leading to casualties and significant damage to security vehicles.
The exchange of fire resulted in the death of three security personnel, with 20 individuals sustaining serious injuries and nine with minor wounds. The injured were promptly taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment. Additionally, one Frontier Corps bus was destroyed by fire, and three other vehicles suffered damage to their tires during the attack.
In response to the assault, security forces launched mortar rounds towards the suspected escape routes of the assailants. The area has since been secured, all casualties evacuated, and normal traffic flow on the N-25 highway restored. While no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, sources have linked it to the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Local media also reported separate attacks in Bannu and Lower Dir districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where two policemen were killed, and 26 others, including 22 police personnel, were injured.
