Four bodies have been found after a tourist cruise overturned at Bargi Dam in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district. The incident occurred due to extreme weather conditions, with several passengers still missing. Prompt rescue efforts have saved around 14–15 people, and search operations are ongoing.
Jabalpur Collector Raghavendra Singh mentioned that multiple agencies are involved in the rescue operations. The State Disaster Response Force, local police, and other disaster management units are working tirelessly at the site. Despite adverse weather conditions, the search for missing passengers continues.
Responding to queries about the weather, Singh stated that while rain alerts were issued, the severity of the storm was unexpected. Rescue teams are conducting intensive search operations in the dam area, facing challenging conditions. The incident, which occurred near Khamariya Island, involved a cruise carrying approximately 31 passengers.
Eyewitnesses reported that strong winds and high waves caused the cruise to capsize suddenly. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav assured continuous rescue efforts supervised by senior officials. Swift actions have led to the safe rescue of 15 individuals, with ongoing efforts to locate the missing passengers. In this crisis, the state government is providing full support to the affected families.
