The death toll from a tragic tractor-trolley accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Anuppur district has reached six, with 22 others sustaining injuries, as confirmed by the police. The incident occurred in Bijora village during the return journey from a religious event, leading to the overturning of the tractor-trolley carrying devotees.
Four individuals lost their lives on the spot, while two more succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Nearly 40 villagers from Ginjri village were returning from a religious gathering when the accident happened. The tractor-trolley lost control near a culvert, causing passengers to fall around 10 feet to the ground below.
The injured were promptly taken to Pali Hospital via the 108 ambulance service, with those in critical condition being transferred to Shahdol Medical College and the district hospital for specialized care. The influx of injured individuals at the hospital created chaos and panic among family members and villagers.
Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding and potential driver negligence might have contributed to the accident. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed sorrow over the incident and announced financial aid for the families of the victims.
Anuppur Collector Harshal Pancholi visited Shahdol Medical College to check on the injured patients, while the police continue their investigation into the tragic accident.
