The body of six-year-old Anna was found in the Muvattupuzha river, marking a tragic conclusion to the search for a family of four who are believed to have died by suicide by jumping from the Piravom bridge in Kerala’s Ernakulam district. Anna’s body was discovered near the Excise Kadavu area, close to where the family is thought to have jumped. Police are investigating the incident as a case of suicide, with ongoing efforts to determine the exact circumstances of the deaths.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Narayanan, his wife Bijimol, their six-year-old daughter Anna, and their two-year-old son. Originally from Kothamangalam, the family had been residing in rented accommodation recently. CCTV footage from the area showed the family having lunch at a nearby hotel before heading towards the Piravom bridge. While the cameras captured their movements up to the bridge, there is no footage of the actual incident.
The tragic events unfolded when a local fisherman spotted the couple’s two-year-old son’s body in the river, leading to the discovery of Bijimol’s body shortly after and Narayanan’s body the following day. After a three-day search operation, Anna’s body was recovered on Sunday morning. Post-mortem examinations are being conducted on the bodies at the Government Medical College Hospital in Kalamassery, with police gathering statements from relatives as part of the investigation.
