A tragic road accident on Kanwali Road in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, resulted in the death of a 50-year-old daily wage laborer, Sakal Dev Sahni, who was hit by a speeding dumper truck. Sahni, a resident of Sitamarhi district in Bihar, had come to Dehradun in search of work and was struck while heading towards Labour Chowk with his companions. The incident sparked public outrage, leading to protests and demands for justice and improved road safety measures.
In a separate incident on the Dehradun-Mussoorie route, a truck carrying rations and cold drinks veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge, killing the driver, Mubarak, and critically injuring the helper, Sajid. The truck, en route from Dehradun Railway Station to Uttarkashi, lost control and fell into a 100-meter deep gorge near Mussoorie Lake. Emergency response teams, including the NDRF, conducted a joint rescue operation to retrieve the victims from the challenging terrain.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the Dehradun truck driver may have momentarily dozed off, leading to the accident. The families of the victims have been notified, and authorities have initiated a thorough probe into the incident. The tragic accidents caused disruptions in the affected areas, prompting swift responses from emergency services and law enforcement agencies to manage the situations and address the aftermath.
