A train collided with a car at a railway crossing in Shiraoka City, Saitama Prefecture. The incident occurred on the JR Utsunomiya Line around 2:20 pm local time, causing severe damage to the car. Rescue operations were initiated as one man was trapped in the vehicle.
Local authorities reported that the train struck the car while it was crossing the railway. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the train passengers. Following the accident, the Shonan-Shinjuku Line temporarily suspended operations between Shinjuku Station and Utsunomiya Station.
JR East is currently investigating the incident after the train driver mentioned a possible derailment. The Tohoku Shinkansen Line in northeastern Japan faced a temporary suspension last month due to a swan on the tracks, affecting about 1,300 passengers. The high-speed Shinkansen trains are known for their exceptional performance and safety record.
