After the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections, Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee stated that the party has already crossed the 100-seat mark. Banerjee further predicted that the party would exceed 200 seats after the upcoming second and final phase of voting on April 29. He confidently expressed that his past predictions have been accurate, emphasizing the party’s strong performance in recent voting phases.
Abhishek Banerjee, addressing a rally in Basirhat, North 24 Parganas district, highlighted the party’s consistent electoral success and projected a significant victory in the upcoming polls. He specifically mentioned the stronghold of South Bengal, where a substantial number of seats are expected to be secured by the Trinamool Congress. The voting process in West Bengal is divided into two phases, with the first phase already completed on April 23 and the remaining seats scheduled for voting on April 29.
With optimism about the party’s performance in the initial phase, Banerjee challenged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to stay in Bengal until the vote counting on May 4. He criticized the BJP for its tactics during the election campaign, accusing them of intimidation and emphasizing the resilience of the people of Bengal. Banerjee also took a jibe at BJP leaders, advising them to stay hydrated due to the intense heat in the state.
