Elected legislators from Trinamool Congress in North Bengal have been invited to an administrative review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari in Siliguri. All 14 Trinamool Congress legislators from eight districts received invitations for the meeting, emphasizing the importance of opposition involvement in democratic processes.
The gesture of inviting opposition legislators is seen as a move to encourage healthy democratic practices by seeking their input on public service matters. This marks a departure from the previous administration where opposition legislators were not included in official programs for over a decade.
The tradition of inviting opposition legislators to government events was reinstated by the current BJP regime, following a hiatus during the Trinamool Congress rule. The meeting in Siliguri will be followed by discussions between CM Adhikari and Border Security Force officials regarding land handover for border fencing with Bangladesh.
