The Trinamool Congress lodged a complaint against the District Electoral Officer (DEO) of Kolkata South for using a Bollywood song in a social media post to promote the Election Commission of India’s message for fair elections. The song “Hum Pyar Karne Wale Duniya Se Na Darne Wale” from the movie ‘Dil’ was shared by Vibhu Goel, the DEO of Kolkata (South), emphasizing the ECI’s commitment to ensuring peaceful polls in West Bengal.

In the post, the DEO urged troublemakers to be prepared with remedies like Burnol and Boroline for any discomfort caused by security forces during the voting process. The Trinamool Congress criticized the post, citing it as threatening and inappropriate for an election authority. They accused the DEO of violating the Model Code of Conduct by inciting tension and issuing veiled threats.

The ruling party in West Bengal has requested the Election Commission of India to remove the social media post and take disciplinary action against the Kolkata South DEO for his controversial message.
