Days after Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar resigned as Trinamool’s Barasat district president, she joined Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s meeting, raising speculation about her future plans. Alongside Dastidar, three Trinamool MLAs from North 24 Parganas district were also present at the gathering in Kalyani. The meeting included administrative officers from North 24 Parganas, Nadia, and Hooghly districts at the APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium.
Newly-elected Trinamool MLA Anisur Rahaman Bidesh from Deganga, Bina Mondal from Swarupnagar, and Abdul Matin from Haroa were among the attendees. Speculation about Kakoli possibly leaving the Trinamool Congress has heightened following these developments. Chief Minister Adhikari had previously stated that Opposition party representatives would be invited to such meetings after assuming office.
According to BJP sources, Trinamool representatives, including Kakoli, were summoned by the Chief Minister. Both Trinamool MLAs and party sources emphasize that the meeting was focused on developmental issues. Bina Mondal expressed her attendance as a step towards her Assembly constituency’s progress. Abdul Matin clarified that he attended as an MLA at the state government’s behest.
Deganga MLA Anisur Rahaman Bidesh highlighted the need for government support in developing his marginalized constituency. Kakoli’s presence at Adhikari’s meeting holds significance in the state’s political landscape. Recently, Kakoli was replaced as the Chief Whip of the Trinamool Parliamentary Party by Sreerampur MP Kalyan Banerjee.
Kakoli’s social media post hinting at her loyalty and the timing of her resignation as the Barasat district president have added intrigue to her participation in Adhikari’s meeting.
