Trinamool MP Saayoni Ghosh acknowledged the Bharatiya Janata Party’s win in West Bengal, stating, “I humbly accept the mandate of the people.” She expressed gratitude to the people of Bengal for their support. In a firm message, Ghosh highlighted the challenges faced by her party, including alleged harassment by central agencies and media trials. She emphasized the determination of the All India Trinamool Congress to continue fighting for the rights of the people of Bengal and the nation. The BJP’s victory marks the end of the Trinamool Congress’s 15-year rule in West Bengal.
With the BJP securing a significant majority in the 294-member Assembly, the political landscape in West Bengal has shifted. The BJP won 206 seats, surpassing the Trinamool Congress, which secured 81 seats. Other parties like the Congress, CPI(M), AISF, and Aam Janata Unnayan Party also won seats. The BJP garnered 46% of the vote share, while the Trinamool Congress followed closely with 41%.
