Four-time Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member, Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, requesting permission to file a formal complaint against Kalyan Banerjee, the Chief Whip of her party. Ghosh Dastidar accused Banerjee of misconduct and disrespect towards fellow Trinamool Congress MPs within the Lok Sabha. She is seeking necessary disciplinary action against Banerjee for alleged misconduct, citing instances of verbal abuse.
The request for action against Banerjee comes shortly after Ghosh Dastidar resigned from all organizational posts within the party. In her resignation letter, she indirectly criticized Banerjee, who had recently taken over as the Trinamool Congress Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha. Ghosh Dastidar emphasized that she will continue as an ordinary party member despite stepping down from her previous roles.
Ghosh Dastidar, who previously served as the Trinamool’s organizational district President for Barasat, has been an elected MP for four terms since 2009. Tensions between Ghosh Dastidar and the party leadership escalated following Mamata Banerjee’s decision to replace her as Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha after the West Bengal Assembly election results. This move led Ghosh Dastidar to express her discontent on social media, highlighting her long-standing loyalty to the party.
