Tripura’s Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister emphasized the BJP government’s focus on boosting agricultural production and exports to enhance farmers’ earnings. Recently, the Minister, alongside the Forest Minister, initiated the shipment of 3 metric tonnes of organic aromatic rice, Kaalikhasa, and Harinarayan, to Kolkata from Agartala Railway Station. The state government’s primary objective is to elevate farmers’ income by fostering sustainable agricultural growth.
A private organization is facilitating the export of 3 metric tonnes of Kaalikhasa and Harinarayan paddy to Kolkata from Tripura. This endeavor is spearheaded by two Farmer Producer Companies, Bosong Group of Tulasikhar in Khowai district, and Thansa Farmers Organisation from Gomati district. The formation of these companies aims to empower farmers by ensuring fair prices for their agricultural yields.
The consignment includes 2.5 metric tonnes of Kaalikhasa and 0.5 metric tonnes of Harinarayan paddy, being shipped out of the state to preserve their aroma. Despite the market price of Rs 55 per kilogram, farmers are vending their produce at Rs 70 per kilogram through these Farmer Producer Companies. The government’s unwavering support for farmers underscores its commitment to bolstering production and exports for the benefit of the farming community.
