The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a caution to its members regarding misrepresenting the party’s views or positions. The party clarified that an individual, without being named, has been falsely presenting himself as the potential president of the BJP’s Tripura unit, leading to confusion and misinformation. The BJP emphasized that the election or appointment of the state President and other office-bearers strictly follows the party’s organizational structure and constitution.
The state BJP’s media-cell in-charge, Sunit Sarkar, highlighted that any activities deviating from the party constitution are considered acts of indiscipline and are not tolerated. The party has directed all district presidents, mandal presidents, and party workers to adhere to party discipline and avoid engaging with individuals involved in such unauthorized activities. The statement emphasized the importance of working with discipline, unity, and faith in the party constitution to strengthen the organization.
The current Tripura BJP state president, Rajib Bhattacharjee, who is also a Rajya Sabha member, continues to hold the post as the election of a new state president remains pending. The party had initially scheduled the election but postponed it last year, reportedly due to internal feuds within the party. Political analysts suggest that internal conflicts within the BJP led to the deferment of the election for the state president despite previously announcing the election dates.
