Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted the importance of improving people’s lives as a true measure of development. He commended nearly 80% of the state’s Panchayats for excelling in various performance areas, showcasing Tripura’s progress in grassroots governance.

Speaking at the state-based Panchayat Awards 2026-27 program, Saha praised Tripura’s national recognition in the Panchayat sector, attributing the success to the dedicated efforts of the Panchayati Raj Department. He stressed the significance of empowering Panchayats for overall state and national progress.

Saha underscored the pivotal role of villages in development, noting past urban-centric growth approaches. Recognizing Tripura’s achievements, he mentioned accolades such as Sepahijala district being named the Best District nationally and innovative models like the ‘Boutique Panchayat’ concept introduced by Bijaynagar Gram Panchayat.

Highlighting the need for continuous efforts towards enhancing the quality of life and socio-economic conditions of all sections of society, Saha reiterated the importance of democratic governance through collaborative endeavors involving government, public representatives, officials, and citizens.
