Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted the crucial role of teachers in society, stating that they not only provide education but also instill values and ensure students’ mental and emotional well-being. He stressed the importance of teachers in shaping future leaders during the inauguration of a Regional School Leadership Workshop and Review Programme in Agartala. The program, jointly organized by the National Centre for School Leadership (NCSL), the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), and the State NCERT’s School Leadership Academy, aims to enhance holistic student development.
Saha urged teachers to contribute positively to society beyond classroom teaching, emphasizing the significance of creating a healthy and harmonious environment. He emphasized the need for educational institutions to focus on students’ mental health and encouraged continuous learning from society, not just academic degrees. The Chief Minister, who also oversees Elementary and Secondary Education, highlighted the adoption of a new education policy to equip students for future challenges and leadership roles.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saha underlined the importance of guiding educated youth to build a developed India. He emphasized the integration of science-based education with the country’s cultural heritage and traditions. Saha also stressed the necessity for teachers to embrace modern teaching methodologies to meet evolving educational requirements. The state government, under his leadership, has initiated various programs to cater to current and future student needs, emphasizing the significance of effective monitoring for successful implementation.
Referring to India’s historical educational excellence, Saha acknowledged the system’s decline due to historical factors but expressed optimism in restoring its former glory through educational reforms. He affirmed the government’s commitment to partnering with the Prime Minister’s efforts to modernize the education system and revive the nation’s educational legacy.
