Tripura Chief Minister has instructed officials to provide support for the advanced treatment of a 22-month-old infant diagnosed with a severe neuromuscular disorder. The child, suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type-1, is receiving coordinated care at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
In response to the Chief Minister’s directive, Tripura Bhawan in New Delhi swiftly mobilized resources to aid the child’s family and ensure her prompt medical attention. The team at Tripura Bhawan is working closely with AIIMS to facilitate the child’s access to specialized medical evaluation and necessary treatment without delays.
The state government’s focus is on providing comprehensive support to the young patient and her family during the treatment at AIIMS. The Resident Commissioner and officials from Tripura Bhawan are actively monitoring the situation and maintaining constant communication with both the medical team at AIIMS and the child’s family.
The case has garnered significant public support in Tripura, with various leaders and organizations offering financial assistance to help cover the substantial medical costs associated with treating the rare genetic disorder. Notable figures, including political leaders from different parties, have stepped forward to assist the child and her family during this challenging time.
