Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that the state has secured the top spot nationwide in participation in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat program. Attending the 132nd episode in Barjala near Agartala, Saha highlighted the program’s focus on innovative efforts to provide drinking water to underserved communities. Specifically mentioning Vanghmun in the Jampui Hills for its success in ensuring water access, Saha expressed pride in the state’s achievements.
The program serves as a platform for the Prime Minister to discuss various topics like health awareness, agriculture, fisheries, and sports, among others. Saha noted the importance of discussions on reducing oil consumption and promoting regular exercise, especially among the youth. He also emphasized the positive impact of central welfare schemes like free electricity, benefiting rural and refugee communities by enhancing education and agricultural productivity.
Underlining the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission, Saha stated that Tripura has significantly increased its coverage from 3% in 2018 to around 86% presently. Despite challenges like limited natural water sources, he expressed confidence in achieving 100% coverage soon. The BJP-led government, in power since 2018, aims to accomplish full success in the Jal Jeevan Mission through innovative planning and sustained efforts in the near future.
Several senior leaders and party workers, including Chief Whip of the state Assembly Kalyani Saha Roy, attended the event alongside other officials.
