A truck driver lost his life, and a Manipur Police officer was wounded in an attack by suspected militants on a convoy of goods-laden vehicles in Ukhrul district. The incident occurred at Litan, where the convoy was targeted with heavy gunfire from hilltops. The deceased driver, Nitish Kumar, was from Hooghly district in West Bengal.

Security forces engaged in a brief exchange of fire with the militants after the attack. During the confrontation, a Manipur Police personnel named Disingam Maringmei sustained injuries. Earlier, a joint team of security forces had escorted stranded commercial trucks and cleared a blockade on the Imphal-Dimapur National Highway.

The situation in the affected areas, Litan and T.M. Kasom, remains tense following the ambush. Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh strongly denounced the incident in Ukhrul district, expressing condolences for the deceased truck driver and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured police constable. Singh highlighted the cowardly nature of the attack and vowed to pursue the perpetrators through search and cordon operations.
