US President Donald Trump, in response to a recent incident near the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, termed the presidency a risky job but vowed not to be deterred by violence. Trump recounted the swift unfolding of events after shots were fired, expressing shock at the occurrence. Despite the quick response by security personnel, Trump admitted to initial confusion, mistaking the gunfire for a different noise.

The President highlighted the containment of the threat before it reached him or the main gathering, emphasizing the importance of security protocols. Trump, reflecting on the risks of leadership, acknowledged the dangers associated with the role but affirmed his commitment to his duties. He also addressed concerns about political violence, stressing the need for public figures to continue engaging with the community despite the inherent risks.

Trump, while recognizing the emotional impact of the incident, praised the coordinated efforts of law enforcement and Secret Service personnel. He reassured the public of his administration’s determination to resume normal activities promptly, with plans to hold the correspondents’ dinner within 30 days. Trump called for unity among Americans, urging people from all political backgrounds to work together and resolve differences peacefully.

The President concluded by expressing confidence in security forces and reaffirming his dedication to serving the country, as law enforcement continued investigations into the suspect’s motives and potential links.
