Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed the phone conversation between Putin and Trump. The discussions between Trump and Zelensky are expected to focus on a 20-point peace plan, covering topics such as ceasefire timelines, demilitarized zones, nuclear plant management, territorial control, and post-crisis security measures. Trump expressed optimism about the progress made in the peace negotiations.
Following the meeting, Trump stated that talks with Zelensky had been fruitful, with significant progress made towards ending the conflict in Ukraine. He mentioned reaching out to various European leaders after the discussions, including those from France, Finland, Poland, Norway, Italy, the UK, Germany, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Trump emphasized the importance of these engagements in light of the situation in Ukraine.
