US President Donald Trump issued a warning to Iran, threatening severe military action if mines were placed in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Trump stated that the US had destroyed 10 suspected mine-laying boats in the vital shipping lane. He emphasized that any mines laid by Iran must be removed immediately to avoid unprecedented military retaliation.
Trump further stated that the US was ready to utilize advanced technology and missile capabilities to prevent any potential mining of the strait. He emphasized that any boats or ships attempting to lay mines would be swiftly and forcefully dealt with. Following the warning, US forces reportedly destroyed multiple vessels believed to be involved in mine-laying activities.
The operations were confirmed by US Central Command (CENTCOM), which noted that American military forces were conducting strikes as part of a broader campaign against Iranian capabilities at sea. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth highlighted that the actions were aimed at safeguarding global shipping routes and preventing threats posed by Iran.
Hegseth emphasized that the US would not allow terrorists to disrupt the Strait of Hormuz and issued a direct warning to Tehran. CENTCOM stated that the military operations were focused on limiting Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and exert influence at sea. The US forces aimed to degrade Iran’s power projection capabilities and ensure the security of vital maritime routes.
