US President Donald Trump stated that the United States is closely monitoring activities at Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain nuclear site. Trump mentioned that any slight movement at the site could lead to a new American strike. He highlighted that US Space Force surveillance systems were keeping a close eye on the facility following reports of possible activity.
Trump emphasized the monitoring capabilities, stating that the surveillance cameras were powerful enough to identify a person’s name badge from space. He also noted that other Iranian nuclear sites previously targeted by the United States were still under observation. Trump asserted that if Iran made any move at Pickaxe Mountain, the US would respond promptly and decisively.
During an interview with Fox News, Trump addressed concerns raised by some weapons experts regarding the effectiveness of US bunker-buster bombs against the deeply buried Pickaxe Mountain site. Trump reassured that the US possessed advanced capabilities, stating confidently, “We have good, good stuff.”
The President acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Iran’s activities at the location. He mentioned that the status of Pickaxe Mountain was not definitively known, stating, “Nobody knows about Pickaxe. By the way, nobody knows if they even are doing anything in Pickaxe.” Despite detecting minimal activity through surveillance, Trump reiterated the readiness of the United States to take action if necessary.
Trump also discussed the Taleghan facility outside Tehran, which had been a target of previous US strikes. Referring to satellite images showing recent movements at the site, Trump expressed concerns about Iran’s actions to seal entrances with concrete. He warned that the US could swiftly target the Taleghan facility again, emphasizing the ability to cause significant damage within minutes.
Highlighting past actions, Trump recalled Operation Epic Fury conducted on February 28 to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. He mentioned US strikes on three nuclear sites using B-2 bombers, asserting that Iran was close to obtaining a nuclear weapon before these operations. Trump’s actions have been part of the ongoing dispute between Iran and Western countries over the nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
