A spell of turbulent weather is forecasted to affect Madhya Pradesh, with the Meteorological Centre in Bhopal cautioning about thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and strong winds in various districts over the next 24 hours.
Moderate thunderstorm activity, accompanied by lightning, hail, and wind speeds up to 60 kmph, is expected in several districts including Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Kanha, and others. Light thunderstorms with lightning are also anticipated in different areas during the evening hours.
The bulletin issued on Tuesday warns of gusty winds reaching 50–60 kmph in parts of Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, and other districts. Additionally, winds of 40–50 kmph are predicted in areas like Indore, Shajapur, Jabalpur, and more, with possible hailstorms in certain districts.
The IMD bulletin emphasizes the potential damage to crops, fruits, vegetables, and structures due to hailstorms. Farmers are advised to protect crops, livestock, and vehicles, while citizens are urged to stay indoors during thunderstorms and take necessary precautions.
A western disturbance and cyclonic circulation over Kashmir and adjoining regions, along with troughs extending across several states, are expected to sustain storm activity in Madhya Pradesh until May 9. Another western disturbance is likely to impact the western Himalayan region from May 10, affecting weather patterns in northern India.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow official advisories due to the forecasted gusty winds, lightning, and hail in multiple districts. The IMD stresses the importance of taking precautions to minimize risks during this period of volatile weather.
