TVK senior leader K.A. Sengottaiyan announced his candidacy for the Gobichettipalayam Assembly constituency in the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections. This move reflects the party’s focus on strengthening its presence in western Tamil Nadu. Sengottaiyan revealed this decision while inaugurating a new party office near Gobichettipalayam.
He highlighted the party’s efforts to expand its organizational reach and readiness for the 2026 polls. Sengottaiyan addressed allegations of TVK cadres participating in an AIADMK event, clarifying that it was AIADMK workers holding TVK flags. He emphasized the party’s growth as driven by public support, not defections.
Responding to criticism of party founder Vijay’s dance performance, Sengottaiyan defended it as a cultural expression during a devotional song. He reaffirmed his support for Vijay and announced plans for the party’s upcoming statewide tour. Sengottaiyan dismissed claims of Vijay accepting unaccounted money, urging for credible evidence to support such accusations.
Regarding the party’s electoral strategy and alliances, Sengottaiyan kept options open, citing a strategic decision on alliance silence. He expressed confidence in TVK’s impact in the 2026 elections. Sengottaiyan challenged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s statement on TVK’s influence, asserting that the election results would reveal the party’s strength.
