The J&K Police disclosed the arrest of two individuals in Srinagar with arms, ammunition, and posters belonging to the banned group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). During routine checking in the Baba Dem area, a police team apprehended the duo on a motorcycle. The search yielded one pistol, three magazines, 21 live rounds, two mobile phones, and 10 LeT posters.
A case under relevant sections of UAPA and Arms Act has been filed, identified as Faisal Ahmad Bhat of Malpora Habba Kadal and Faisal Ahmad Guroo of Rajouri Kadal. The J&K Police and security forces are actively conducting operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers. This approach forms part of a revised security strategy targeting the entire terrorism support system rather than just armed terrorists.
Anti-terror operations in the hinterland are led by police and security forces, while the Army and Border Security Force (BSF) are stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) and international border in J&K. The LoC, guarded by the Army, spans 740 km across various districts, and the BSF secures a 240 km-long international border in specific districts. Both forces work to prevent infiltration, smuggling, and drone activities supported by the Pakistan Army and ISI.
