Two separate complaints were lodged against Abhishek Banerjee, the General Secretary of Trinamool Congress and a Lok Sabha member, at different police stations in West Bengal. The first complaint, filed at the Siliguri Cyber Police Station, accused Abhishek Banerjee of making instigating statements during campaign rallies before the state Assembly polls. The complainant urged the police to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Another complaint was filed at the Bishnupur Police Station in South 24 Parganas district by Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Avijit Das alias Bobby. Das accused Abhishek Banerjee of involvement in corruption related to relief material distribution after Cyclone Amphan in May 2020. He requested a detailed probe by forming a Special Investigation Team.

Abhishek Banerjee is scheduled to be questioned by investigating agencies on consecutive days from June 14 to 16. On June 14, he will face questioning at the state police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters regarding discrepancies in party legislators’ signatures. The following day, he is set to be interrogated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a cash-for-school-job case. Lastly, on June 16, he will appear at the CID headquarters for questioning in a case involving alleged incitement of violence and threats made to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
