Two teachers tragically lost their lives, and 16 others, including 11 school students and five teachers, were injured in a road accident in Rohtas district, Bihar. The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. when a bus carrying teachers and students collided with a heavy vehicle near Sohsa village on the Arrah-Mohania National Highway. The bus driver hit the rear left side of the heavy vehicle during the collision.
Following the accident, both the bus driver and the driver of the heavy vehicle fled the scene. Authorities suspect that the bus driver may have either dozed off momentarily or drove recklessly while overtaking, leading to the collision. A manhunt has been initiated to locate both drivers.
Police responded promptly to the scene, rescuing the injured students and teachers and transferring them to Sadar Hospital, Sasaram. Fortunately, the 11 children and five teachers who sustained minor injuries are now in stable condition. The injured victims mentioned hearing a loud noise during the collision but were unable to provide further details.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Sanjay Kumar Rai from Bhainshar village in Chainpur, Kaimur district, and Puneet Kumar Singh from Baghawa village in Mirzapur district. Among the injured teachers are Vipin Pandey, Siyananda Patel, Lori Singh, Lalita Kumari, and another teacher. The bus was transporting students and teachers from Middle School Badhona in Chainpur block of Kaimur district for an educational trip to Patna.
An FIR has been filed against the bus driver for rash and negligent driving, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
