The UAE’s Ministry of Defence announced that it successfully intercepted two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran, with no injuries or fatalities resulting from the attacks. Since the beginning of Iranian assaults, UAE air defences have thwarted a total of 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,265 UAVs, as per the Ministry’s statement on social media platform X.
The Ministry disclosed that two individuals have lost their lives due to the Iranian attacks, along with a Moroccan civilian associated with the Armed Forces. Additionally, a total of 10 civilians from various nationalities, including Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Palestinian, Indian, and Egyptian, have been reported dead.
Injuries from the Iranian attacks have affected 230 people of diverse nationalities, encompassing Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian, Turkish, Iraqi, Nepalese, Nigerian, Omani, Jordanian, Palestinian, Ghanaian, Indonesian, Swedish, Tunisian, Moroccan, and Russian individuals.
The UAE’s Ministry of Defence has affirmed its preparedness to counter any threats and confront challenges that jeopardize the nation’s security, emphasizing the protection of its sovereignty, security, stability, interests, and national capabilities. The recent engagement by UAE’s air defence systems against two ballistic missiles and three UAVs from Iran resulted in three moderate injuries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE has condemned what it terms as “renewed unprovoked Iranian aggression” involving missiles and drones. It was confirmed that three Indian nationals sustained injuries due to Iran’s attacks on civilian locations and facilities. The Ministry strongly denounced Iran’s actions as unacceptable aggression and a direct menace to the UAE’s security, stability, and territorial integrity.
Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards threats to its security and sovereignty, the UAE asserts its legitimate right to respond to unprovoked assaults in a manner that safeguards its sovereignty, national security, territorial integrity, and the well-being of its citizens, residents, and visitors, in compliance with international law. The Ministry stressed the immediate cessation of these attacks and the necessity for full compliance with the cessation of hostilities.
Attributing full responsibility to Iran for these unwarranted attacks and their consequences, the UAE’s Ministry of Defence remains resolute in protecting its interests and national security.
