Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticized the opposition Congress for spreading misinformation and a false narrative about the interim trade deal between India and the US. He assured that the agreement safeguards the interests of farmers. Chouhan emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the country towards progress and self-reliance.
Minister Chouhan dismissed Congress’ claims regarding the trade deal, stating that the opposition lacks substantial issues to address. He affirmed that the trade agreement with the US will not adversely affect Indian farmers. Chouhan, both as the Agriculture Minister and a farmer himself, guaranteed the protection of farmers’ interests in the deal.
In response to concerns raised by farmers about the trade agreement, Chouhan reiterated his commitment to safeguarding their interests. He emphasized that the government is dedicated to ensuring that farmers are not adversely impacted by the deal. Chouhan’s remarks come amidst growing confusion among farmers regarding the implications of the India-US trade agreement.
The Union Minister participated in a ‘Yuva Samvaad’ event at ITM University before heading to Jhansi for another engagement. Meanwhile, the Congress has strongly criticized the BJP government and Prime Minister Modi over the trade deal with the US. The opposition party has initiated a nationwide movement against the proposed agreement, organizing ‘Kisan Maha Panchayats’ in various regions.
