Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with 1,000 Indian Air Force and Army personnel, participated in a mass yoga session at the Eastern Air Command Headquarters in Shillong to commemorate the 12th International Day of Yoga. The event, attended by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and other dignitaries, emphasized yoga’s benefits for physical fitness, mental well-being, and emotional resilience.
Singh highlighted the significance of yoga as a holistic science that fosters connections with oneself, society, nature, and the divine. He emphasized that yoga is not just a physical exercise but a way of life that promotes inner stability, mental clarity, and emotional strength. Singh credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for popularizing yoga globally and transforming it into a health and wellness movement.
The Defence Minister encouraged people to incorporate yoga into their daily routines, emphasizing its role in maintaining a healthy body and a peaceful mind. The event in Shillong also featured a live broadcast of the Prime Minister’s International Day of Yoga address from Kolkata’s Red Road. Similar yoga sessions were held at various military locations, showcasing the dedication of defense personnel to this annual observance.
