Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to all Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors, and Administrators requesting their support in conducting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) re-examination. The NEET exams, initially held on May 3, were canceled due to concerns over paper leaks and alleged irregularities. The re-examination for more than 23 lakh medical aspirants is now scheduled for June 21. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is working closely with the Education Ministry to ensure a secure and transparent examination process, following public outcry over the previous issues.
The Education Minister emphasized the importance of fair and smooth examinations, especially considering the ongoing heatwave conditions. He urged state governments to guarantee the availability of essential amenities at exam centers for the well-being of candidates. These amenities include safe drinking water, adequate seating, fans/coolers, clean washrooms, shaded waiting areas, uninterrupted electricity, and portable toilets as necessary.
In his communication, Pradhan highlighted the need for state governments to provide sufficient transportation facilities for candidates on the examination day. Additionally, he recently engaged experts from IITs to address technical issues in the CBSE re-evaluation portal, ensuring a smoother process for students and parents post-results.
