Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to lead the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) in New Delhi on Friday. The gathering, organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), will bring together representatives from various ministries, state governments, and drug enforcement agencies to enhance efforts against drug trafficking and abuse nationwide.
During the meeting, Amit Shah will unveil the ‘Narcotics Control Vision Document 2026-2029’, crafted after extensive consultations with stakeholders. This document is anticipated to guide the fight against drug issues through coordinated actions, emphasizing demand reduction, supply control, and rehabilitation initiatives. The Vision Document will also address emerging threats like synthetic drugs and darknet-based trafficking.
The Home Minister will also introduce the NCB Annual Report 2025 and inaugurate new NCB zonal offices in Jammu and Guwahati. Furthermore, he will kick off the ‘Online Drug Disposal Fortnight Campaign’, aiming to destroy around 2,09,500 kg of seized narcotics worth approximately Rs 6,000 crore across the country following legal procedures.
The meeting, as per the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to reinforce the government’s strict stance against drug trafficking and promote a “Drug-Free India”. It will provide a platform to assess the joint efforts of stakeholders and outline a strategy for bolstering narcotics control in the coming three years. Earlier on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Home Minister Shah extended his wishes to those involved in the nation’s anti-drug campaign.
