Reacting to Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s invitation for a discussion on the Bidadi Township Project, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy questioned the purpose of a meeting without the involvement of affected farmers and stakeholders.
Kumaraswamy challenged Shivakumar to a public debate on the project, to which Shivakumar did not comment and deferred his response to a later time.
The exchange continued as Shivakumar invited Kumaraswamy to Vidhana Soudha for talks on June 26, while Kumaraswamy proposed holding the meeting on June 27 in the affected area with local stakeholders.
Kumaraswamy highlighted farmers’ concerns over the project, stating discrepancies in consent levels among landowners and emphasizing the need for inclusive discussions involving affected parties.
The Union Minister emphasized the importance of including affected farmers and stakeholders in the dialogue, expressing readiness for a public debate to address their concerns.
