Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, expressed gratitude to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria for attending the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Road Under Bridge at level crossing number 123 in Baltana on the Ambala-Chandigarh rail section. Governor Kataria highlighted the role of Indian Railways in promoting unity in diversity by connecting people from different states and exposing them to various cultures and traditions during rail travel.
He emphasized that the Indian Railways plays a crucial role in uniting the citizens of the nation and acts as a bridge to showcase the diverse cultural heritage of different states. The Governor praised the immense contribution of Indian Railways in nation-building and social integration, emphasizing its role in reinforcing national unity. Union Minister Bittu acknowledged Governor Kataria’s understanding of the importance of rail transport, especially in a vast state like Rajasthan with an extensive railway network.
Providing details about the Road Under Bridge project, Union Minister Bittu mentioned that it is being constructed at a cost of Rs 12 crore, with funding shared equally between Indian Railways and the Chandigarh Administration. The project aims to enhance connectivity and safety for residents of Baltana and surrounding areas, as the current Baltana level crossing witnesses high traffic volume. Additionally, the Union Minister highlighted Indian Railways’ policy shift to retain operational level crossings even after the construction of Railway Over Bridges to minimize inconvenience to local residents and traders.
Union Minister Bittu announced the upcoming commencement of the Dhakoli Railway Over Bridge project, which is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in the region and benefit commuters and residents. He emphasized the government’s commitment to modernizing railway infrastructure in Punjab and Chandigarh under the leadership of PM Modi, focusing on public convenience, safety, and inclusive development.
