Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav highlighted the growing issue of human-wildlife conflict in India. Chairing the 7th Meeting of the Governing Body of the National CAMPA in Coimbatore, he approved new projects for the conservation of Dolphins, Snow Leopards, Wild Water Buffalo, and Indian Rhinoceros. Yadav emphasized the need for a solution-oriented approach to address these challenges effectively.
Inaugurating the Centre of Excellence on Human-Wildlife Conflict in Coimbatore, Yadav stressed the importance of utilizing modern technology to manage conflicts. He urged forest departments nationwide to take proactive measures to prevent conflicts and protect human settlements and crops. Yadav emphasized the significance of engaging with local communities through multi-stakeholder consultations to address these issues collaboratively.
The Minister emphasized the development and implementation of innovative best practices in wildlife conservation. He advocated for promoting coexistence and harmony between humans and wildlife for ecological sustainability. Yadav also launched the National Human-Wildlife Conflict Portal, a digital platform aimed at facilitating data management and decision-making for conflict mitigation efforts across the country.
