Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has challenged former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to present evidence supporting his claim of a conspiracy to topple the Congress government during the 2020 political crisis in the state. Shekhawat criticized Gehlot for repeatedly alleging a “coup attempt” without providing any proof to back his claims.
Shekhawat, speaking in Jodhpur, highlighted Gehlot’s failure to substantiate his accusations and pointed out that even Gehlot’s former OSD, Lokesh Sharma, suggested that the former chief minister himself worked to destabilize the government. Shekhawat accused Gehlot of orchestrating conspiracies, surveilling his own legislators, and shifting blame onto others.
The Union Minister further accused Gehlot of hindering Jodhpur’s development and mismanaging Rajasthan’s water resources. Responding to Gehlot’s comments on the water crisis in Jodhpur, Shekhawat held Gehlot responsible for the deteriorating water situation in the region and across the state, attributing it to flawed policies and mismanagement during Gehlot’s tenure.
Shekhawat claimed that Rajasthan received the highest resource allocation during his term as Union Jal Shakti Minister but criticized the Gehlot government for corrupt practices in resource utilization. He accused Gehlot of neglecting corruption within his administration, allowing ministers and MLAs to exploit public resources freely.
Accusing Gehlot of obstructing development projects for political gain, Shekhawat disputed Gehlot’s claims of credit for the Jodhpur elevated road project. He alleged that Gehlot attempted to delay and impede the project’s progress, emphasizing that such actions hindered Jodhpur’s advancement despite Gehlot’s long tenure as Chief Minister.
