Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra expressed distress over a fire that occurred in a residential building in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar. The fire, which broke out on the second floor around 4 a.m., led to the dispatch of 14 fire engines. During the rescue efforts, 15 individuals were saved, but sadly, nine people, including a toddler, lost their lives.
Malhotra visited the site to oversee the ongoing rescue operations. He described the incident as unfortunate and mentioned that the fire was believed to have started due to a spark between 3:15 and 3:30 a.m. The Minister acknowledged the efforts of the fire brigade, police, and neighbors in saving lives and providing assistance to the injured, who are currently in stable condition.
Following the fire report at 4 a.m., police personnel, along with the Vivek Vihar SHO and ACP, rushed to the location. By 6 a.m., the fire was under control, and the injured had been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Further investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire, with more details expected to emerge soon.
