Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat participated in the unveiling of a mural in Delhi alongside Spanish President Pedro Sanchez. The mural, a collaborative effort between Spanish artist Suso Manuel Pinto Gracia, and Indian artists Tarini Sethi and Ishan Bharat, was part of the Street Art Project at the Lodhi Art District.
Suso Manuel Pinto Gracia, also known as Suso-33, is renowned for his work in graffiti and street art, spanning various mediums like action painting, installation, video art, performance, and set design. The event marked the celebration of 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Spain as the Dual Year of Culture, Tourism, and AI.
President Pedro Sanchez’s visit to New Delhi included participation in the AI Impact Summit 2026, emphasizing the role of artificial intelligence in different sectors. During his visit, he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss enhancing cooperation across key areas. This trip marked his second official visit to India, with the previous one being in October 2024, after an 18-year gap since the last visit by a Spanish President to India.
Union Minister Shekhawat highlighted the strong cultural ties between India and Spain, citing the mutual interest in practices like Yoga, Ayurveda, and the Spanish language. He emphasized the significance of cultural exchanges, diaspora engagement, and collaborations in literature to strengthen the bond between the two nations. The joint dedication of the street art mural symbolizes the active cultural diplomacy between India and Spain.
