Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met in Gandhinagar to assess the progress of National Highway projects in the state. The review focused on the status of various highway works across Gujarat, including new constructions, corridor expansions, and expressway enhancements.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Patel shared updates on the National Highway projects in Gujarat on social media platform X. While specific project details were not disclosed publicly, the discussion centered on the ongoing implementation and advancements in highway infrastructure in the state.
Gujarat hosts key National Highway routes connecting major industrial hubs, ports, and border areas. The government’s efforts in expanding road infrastructure aim to boost freight movement efficiency and reduce travel time for commuters in the region.
Union Minister Gadkari, earlier inaugurating ‘Prawas 5.0’, emphasized the importance of developing a modern and sustainable transportation system. He highlighted the role of infrastructure development in driving economic growth by linking transport networks with industrial progress, trade facilitation, job creation, and poverty alleviation.
Gadkari also underscored the government’s commitment to promoting alternative fuels to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels. He announced hydrogen mobility pilot projects on various routes, including the Ahmedabad-Vadodara-Surat corridor in Gujarat, as part of the ministry’s initiatives towards cleaner energy solutions.
Addressing road safety concerns, Gadkari emphasized the government’s priority in enhancing road engineering, upgrading highway quality, and addressing accident-prone areas in collaboration with state authorities. The review meeting between Gadkari and Patel reflects the ongoing partnership between the Union and Gujarat governments in advancing highway expansion and transport infrastructure projects, with regular evaluations to ensure timely project execution.
