Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse, visited the Sports Authority of India (SAI) North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Centre in Shillong. She engaged with athletes, coaches, and officials, assessing the sports infrastructure and training environment. Khadse toured various facilities, observed training activities, and interacted with coaches and young athletes, emphasizing the pursuit of excellence.
During the visit, Raksha Khadse actively participated in sporting activities like Indian round archery and football. She highlighted the importance of sports participation and grassroots engagement, encouraging youth to excel with discipline and commitment. Raksha Khadse praised the sporting talent and culture of sports participation in the North East. She stressed the need to enhance infrastructure, coaching support, and athlete development pathways for young athletes to succeed nationally and internationally. Khadse also recognized the potential of the SAI NEHU Shillong centre as a high-altitude training destination for elite athletes.
