Union Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the release of Rs 8,368.50 crore for Maharashtra under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin for the financial year 2026-27. This announcement was made during the Griha Pravesh ceremony of 5 lakh completed rural houses in the state. Chouhan praised Maharashtra for completing 5 lakh houses in record time, citing it as an example of good governance and result-oriented administration.
The Minister emphasized the Central government’s commitment to providing respectable housing for every eligible family. He highlighted the goal of ensuring that no poor person in the country lives in inadequate housing. Chouhan mentioned that the assistance from the Centre will expedite the construction of houses for the rural poor in Maharashtra, aiming to make rural areas free of homelessness. He also assured that more housing will be provided to eligible families after the completion of surveys and verifications.
Chouhan handed over approval for 35 road projects worth Rs 122.98 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. These projects, covering 95.99 kilometers, will benefit 35 rural habitations in Maharashtra. The Minister praised Maharashtra’s dedication to rural housing, stating that it serves as an inspiration to other states. He also announced the upcoming launch of the Viksit Bharat G-RAM-G Yojana on July 1, aiming for holistic village development.
