Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission Chairperson Babita Singh Chauhan dismissed claims by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of misconduct during elections, calling them unfounded and politically driven. Chauhan praised the BJP for enhancing women’s safety and empowerment, countering Banerjee’s accusations of violence against women as a tactic to divert attention from electoral losses.
Chauhan highlighted the shift in public sentiment in West Bengal against the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), citing widespread dissatisfaction among citizens. She noted a prevailing sense of frustration among the populace, particularly in Kolkata, emphasizing the negative impact on governance. Despite some support for Banerjee based on self-interest, Chauhan underscored a broader disillusionment among the electorate evident in voting patterns.
Responding to allegations of violence against women voters, Chauhan refuted such claims, asserting the absence of any such incidents. She pointed to the high turnout of women voters as evidence of their sense of security and support, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for prioritizing women’s welfare and safety. Chauhan commended Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for initiatives in Uttar Pradesh aimed at empowering women, expressing gratitude on behalf of all women for the government’s efforts.
