US Central Command stated that it is enforcing sanctions and maintaining a blockade on ships entering or leaving Iranian ports. Since the blockade began, 37 vessels have been redirected, including the Sevan, a merchant ship intercepted in the Arabian Sea. President Trump’s decision to block ships in the Strait of Hormuz followed unsuccessful US-Iranian talks in Pakistan.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned of significant global trade consequences if the security of the Strait of Hormuz is threatened. Iran’s military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, reaffirmed its readiness to respond to US actions in the region. Trump canceled US representatives’ trip to Islamabad for talks with Iran but did not issue new threats in a social media post.

Trump emphasized the US’s strength in negotiations with Iran, urging them to initiate talks. Internal divisions in Iran were highlighted when moderates and hardliners disagreed on the status of the Strait of Hormuz. Despite failed negotiations, Trump extended the ceasefire but maintained the naval blockade on Iranian ports.
