The US Central Command confirmed that the USS Rushmore is engaged in blockade operations in the Arabian Sea. Additionally, reports indicated that the USS Pinckney and USS New Orleans are also involved in patrolling and monitoring regional waters to support these operations.
Amid escalating tensions, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until the US lifts its naval blockade. This move follows conflicting statements from both Washington and Tehran regarding the strait’s accessibility to commercial vessels.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council emphasized its determination to oversee traffic through the Strait of Hormuz until a lasting peace is established in the region. The council outlined measures such as demanding vessel information, issuing passage permits, and regulating traffic in response to the US naval blockade.
The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters in Iran has resumed strict control over the strait, citing the ongoing US naval blockade. The country warned against any attempts to disrupt vessel transit and stated that the strait will remain closed under certain conditions if the blockade persists.
