Visiting US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and extended an invitation from President Donald Trump for PM Modi to visit the White House soon. PM Modi expressed commitment to continued collaboration between India and the US for global welfare, emphasizing the importance of their strategic partnership. US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, highlighted the productive discussions held during the meeting, focusing on enhancing cooperation in security, trade, and critical technologies.
Rubio, accompanied by his wife, began his India visit in Kolkata, where he was welcomed by Ambassador Gor. The Secretary of State’s itinerary includes visits to Agra, Jaipur, and New Delhi, with significant energy discussions planned and engagements with ministers from Quad nations. India is gearing up to host the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi, with Rubio, along with Australian and Japanese Foreign Ministers, set to participate. Ahead of his visit, Rubio emphasized the desire to strengthen energy ties and deepen coordination through the Quad, recognizing India as a valuable ally amid global challenges.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that Rubio’s visit will further enhance the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between India and the USA, reinforcing the strong ties between the two nations.
