Pakistan has the right to defend itself from terrorism, as stated by the US following strikes on alleged militant camps near the Afghanistan border. The State Department emphasized Pakistan’s right to protect itself in response to recent airstrikes inside Afghanistan targeting alleged Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and ISIS-Khorasan (ISIS-K) camps.
The US acknowledged reports of Pakistan’s actions against the TTP and ISIS-K camps along the Afghan border. The spokesperson highlighted the significant toll terrorism has taken on the Pakistani people, underscoring the need for self-defense measures.
Meanwhile, the US urged the Taliban in Afghanistan to fulfill their counterterrorism commitments and prevent terrorist activities originating from Afghan soil. Pakistan’s recent strikes targeted camps associated with the TTP and Islamic State group affiliates, resulting in the reported deaths of 70 militants.
India criticized Pakistan’s airstrikes on Afghan territory, condemning the civilian casualties, including women and children. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson expressed India’s support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence, denouncing the strikes during the holy month of Ramadan.
India denounced Pakistan’s actions as an effort to divert attention from its internal challenges.
