The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has given the green light to various crucial proposals concerning infrastructure, healthcare, energy, urban transport, and panchayat reservation in the state. These decisions are aimed at fostering development and attracting investments. Notably, the Cabinet has cleared metro projects in Agra and Lucknow, including land transfer for station construction in Agra and an MoU for the Charbagh to Vasant Kunj corridor in Lucknow costing approximately Rs 5,801 crore.
To enhance power supply in eastern Uttar Pradesh, the Cabinet has sanctioned the establishment of a 765/400 kV transmission substation in Mirzapur along with associated transmission lines, with an estimated cost of Rs 2,799.47 crore. This initiative is expected to enhance power distribution, benefiting residential, commercial, and industrial consumers. In the healthcare sector, approval has been granted for the construction of a 1,100-bed advanced emergency medical center and other facilities at the new campus of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow, with an estimated cost of around Rs 855 crore.
Furthermore, the Cabinet has approved additional land transfer for the expansion and upgradation of Swaroop Rani Hospital in Prayagraj to cater to the increasing patient load and improve treatment facilities. The Cabinet has also increased the training allowance for veterinary students to support them financially and foster skilled manpower development in the sector. Additionally, a new “Uttar Pradesh State Dedicated Backward Class Commission” has been formed to determine OBC reservation in three-tier panchayat elections, comprising five members including a retired High Court judge as chairperson.
In the realm of higher education, the Cabinet has given the nod for the establishment of “Sardar Patel Apex University” in Samaspur village in Chunar tehsil of Mirzapur district.
