Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath initiated the second phase of the state-wide ‘School Chalo Abhiyan-2026’ in Saharanpur, emphasizing the pivotal role of education in nation-building. He stressed the significance of quality education in shaping responsible citizens, professionals, and leaders, urging all to ensure every child’s school enrollment within 15 days. Adityanath highlighted the state’s substantial progress in reducing the school dropout rate, attributing it to enhanced facilities and services.
The Chief Minister underscored that quality education not only imparts values and self-reliance in children but also equips them to contribute effectively to societal and national development. He commended Uttar Pradesh’s significant improvement in reducing the school dropout rate from 19-20% to 3-4% due to upgraded amenities. The ‘School Chalo Abhiyan,’ initiated in 2017, aims to integrate all children into the education system, with Adityanath crediting the government’s resolute educational policies for its success.
Adityanath highlighted the state government’s efforts to enhance student enrollment, especially among marginalized groups, by improving basic amenities in schools. He mentioned the transformative ‘Operation Kayakalp,’ which revamped government schools by collaborating with various stakeholders. The government’s focus on providing essential facilities like separate toilets, clean water, libraries, and meals aims to create a conducive learning environment for every child, emphasizing the collective responsibility of ensuring education for all.
Scholarships have been granted to around 23,000 differently-abled girls for the academic year 2025-26, showcasing the government’s commitment to inclusive education. Additionally, the state has raised the honorarium for part-time teachers and instructors, ensuring their financial security. Adityanath announced a Rs 5 lakh insurance cover for part-time teachers, instructors, cooks, and others involved in the ‘School Chalo’ program, emphasizing support for education stakeholders.
